Stepping Out

Having originally performed Stepping Out in 1996 and it being a favourite with our audiences, the Society decided to return to this humorous play by Richard Harris, which tells the story of a working class group of amateur tap dancers as they prepare to take to the stage.

This piece of theatre really challenges the cast, as not only do they have to act well, but also become proficient in tap dancing. Out of the cast of ten, only two had previous dance experience, but with extra rehearsals, working together as a team and recruiting help from a local dance teacher, they achieved a superb finale routine.

On the opening night seven of the original 1996 cast members were in the audience and even they had to agree the 2019 cast had given a magnificent performance!
