As a grand finale to our 80th anniversary year KDS embarked on something totally different, performing an interactive murder mystery with the audience seated in an atmospheric bistro style setting. The comic script, written by Karen Ince, included a clever ‘play within a play’ twist, taking a light-hearted look at the world of amateur dramatics, where backstage tensions, forgotten lines and theatrical egos all collide with deadly consequences. When a murder interrupts rehearsals suddenly everyone becomes a suspect and the cast are left to decide how to handle the situation. With the audience invited to become detectives, three eyewitnesses come forward with their Statements and the auditorium doors were firmly locked, ensuring no one could make a hasty exit when the Police arrived on the scene! Thankfully the super sleuths in the audience rose to the challenge, enthusiastically interrogating the cast in their bid to unmask the culprit. With the final dramatic reveal being completed, and a prize awarded to one lucky amateur detective in the audience, an enjoyable final bow to 80 years of community drama in Kilmacolm was complete.
